Textiles Minister P. Shankar Rao, on whose petition the court passed the orders, said he welcomed it. He told reporters that people believe that all the assets of Jaganmohan Reddy were acquired illegally.

He wanted the Kadapa MP to explain to people as to how his income tax, which was into lakhs before he entered politics, has now gone up to Rs.500 crore.

“At least now Jagan should tell people as to how he amassed so much wealth,” said Health Minister D.L. Ravindra Reddy.

He claimed to have evidences of Jagan’s “ill-gotten wealth” and said if CBI asks, he would submit the same.

Ravindra Reddy said if CBI probe proves that Jagan acquired the assets illegally, he would meet the same fate as that of the accused in 2G spectrum case.

State Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana said it was an opportunity for Jagan to come clean. “If he feels he is innocent, it is a good opportunity for him to prove it,” he said.

TDP leader K. Yerran Naidu, who had also filed a PIL against Jagan, termed the court verdict as the victory of democracy. He said he had to move the court as his fight in parliament and outside did not yield the response from the central and state governments.
