Mumbai : To ensure speedy investigation in graft cases, officers appointed to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Mumbai Police will first have to go through a rigorous check by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and other agencies, Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil said here Wednesday.
Patil was speaking at the inauguration of the new ACB building in south Mumbai.
“Use of latest technology on a large scale is required to strengthen this department and the government will lend its support in order to attain this,” Patil said.
He also spoke about the need to bring about a change in the attitude of the officers.
“Since we are in a particular department for three years and shall be transferred elsewhere, we don’t owe anything to anyone, is the attitude of several officers,” he said.
“Various government departments appoint vigilance squads but at the same time, citizens should also remain alert. Instead of surrendering to corrupt officials, they should fight it out,” he added.
