“The prime minister called on the president at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (Friday). The meeting lasted for about 40 minutes,” a communique from the presidential palace said.

“The prime minister briefed the president about his recent visit to Ethiopia to participate in the 2nd Africa-India Forum Summit, 2011 and Tanzania and also about the ongoing dialogue with Baba Ramdev,” it added.

The statement said that the prime minister also discussed “various other issues of national and international importance”.

The prime minister returned May 28 from a six day visit to Ethopia and Tanzania. He announced a credit package and technical and education support for the African countries.

The government has been trying to convince the yoga guru to not to go on his proposed hunger strike from Saturday. Two rounds of talks have not resulted in any breakthrough so far.
