Beijing : Over 16,000 people were Wednesday evacuated from their homes in southern China as heavy rains overnight raised flooding fears, Xinhua reported.
Rains began pounding parts of the southern Guangdong province Tuesday, forcing people in the low-lying areas to leave their homes, an official said.
Over 13,500 people were evacuated from the province’s worst-hit Yangjiang city, and over 2,500 people were evacuated from Taishan city.
Torrential rains also lashed the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Fujian province, prompting the local authorities to issue flood warnings.
