Lucknow: Ayatullah Mahdavi, the Indian representative of supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei, on Monday met the rector of Islamic seminary Nadwatul Ulema, Maulana Rabey Hassan Nadwi who is also head of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). Both the leaders discussed the issues pertaining to Muslim community.
Maulana Nadwi apprised Mahdavi that Muslims are doing well in India and living with complete harmony and freedom. He also emphasized that the relations between the two Muslim sects—Shia and Sunni– are cordial in India.
On his part Mahdawi appreciated the efforts of AIMPLB for upholding the Shariah. He invited Maulana Nadwi for Iran visit.
Earlier in the morning, Mahdavi had separate meetings with the principal of Nadwatul Ulema Maulana Saeedur Rehman Azmi Nadwi. During the meeting, the two clerics discussed the Iranian revolution and its impact on the Muslim world.
Maulana Saeedur Rehman Azmi Nadwi along with faculty member Maulana Salman Nadwi stated that the Shia-Sunni unity as existing in India should also be followed in Iran. The clerics also agreed that a delegation of Nadwatul Ulema will soon visit Iran for better cooperation between the two countries and people.
Mahdavi assured that better coordination will be established between the two countries so that research work on Muslim affairs being undertaken in Iran is also available in India.
Mahdawi was also accompanied by Imam-e-Juma Maulana Kalbe Jawwad , Maulana Taqi Haider Naqvi and other Shia clerics.
