Kolkata : West Bengal’s ruling Left Front Monday complained to the Election Commission about violation of the model code of conduct by the Trinamool Congress which has allegedly put up party posters and cut-outs on government buildings.
“The Trinamool Congress has broken the model code of conduct by putting up posters and cut-outs on walls of government buildings including even the secretariat (Writers’ Buildings),” Left Front chairman Biman Bose told mediapersons here.
Bose said while some of the cut-outs were of Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee, the posters include those publicising the Trianamool slogan of Ma, Mati, Manush (mother, land and people).
“We have sought intervention of the Commission for removing these cut-outs and posters,” Bose said.
Meanwhile, following a diktat from the state Pollution Control Board, the Left Front has decided not to hold any public meeting upto March 10.
The LF had earlier announced a series of public meetings from March 8-10.
The PCB had earlier ruled that no public meeting could be held in open spaces for the duration of the ongoing secondary examination.
In view of this, Bose’s scheduled rally at the Metro Channel in the heart of the city has been cancelled.
The other meetings would be held by covering the venues and using sound limiters instead of microphones.
