Lucknow: Prophet Mohammed had always urged on acquiring education so, it becomes the duty of a Muslim to get education as well as get others educated. These views were expressed by Vice-Chancellor of Arbi, Urdu & Farsi University, Anees Ansari as the chief guest in ‘A Consultation on Muslim Children in UP: Educational Status, Challenges and Prospects under Right to Education (RTE)’ organized by several NGOs at Jai Shankar Prasad Hall on Wednesday.

Mr. Ansari stated that RTE act would be implemented completely within the period of three years and in that period the government will help in maintaining the standards of the schools. “The schools should also come forward and after knowing the standards as per the RTE they should upgrade themselves. Interestingly there are 3 lakh such schools which will have to upgrade their standards,” he added

Ansari said that there are several schools in the state where upgradation of the standards are not possible, for instance they are situated in the streets so they cannot open a play ground there. So for these types of schools some flexible standards should be framed. “We can’t take lessons from the British period where standards were too rigid because of which many of the schools and Patshalas were compelled to shut down,” he added.

The VC suggested that, “The formula of three languages in which along with Hindi and English, one regional language is included should be introduced as it has been seen that creativity of the students increases while they are being taught in their respective regional language,” he added.

Former member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Parveen Talha said if the Muslims youths have the desires of getting the government jobs then they should focus more and more in getting proper education and if they will get into more and more jobs then instantly their respect will increase. “Some Muslims who had already reached on good posts and can change others life too have neglected their Muslim brothers at every stand,” she added.

Speaking in favor of acquiring education, the renowned Cleric, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali said that Islam had always preached that one should acquire knowledge as much as possible. “It is education which makes a man perfect and wise,” he added.
