Fayyad, in remarks he made on the occasion of the Europe Day, excerpts of which were published on Tuesday, said, “We belive that Europe’s role is basic and vital for enabling us to make our national program reach its final stages, which is allowing the people to live in freedom and dignity.” The prime minister, while stressing the need for greater European role, noted the European Union’s support for various sectors in the Palestinian territories, namely the infrastructure and the water networks.

Moreover, Fayyad noted anew that September would be a crucial date for the Palestinians — when they make proclamation of the independent state, unilaterally.
