Ambika Soni, Tewari in Congress’ Punjab coordination panel

New Delhi : Union ministers Ambika Soni and Ashwani Kumar and party spokesman Manish Tewari have been included in the Congress’ Punjab coordination committee, a party release said Tuesday.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi also approved list of district Congress presidents, office bearers and executive committee of the Punjab Pradesh Congress and manifesto committee of the party. The list was released by party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi.

The announcement has been made in view of the assembly polls expected to be held early next year. While former state chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh was appointed Punjab Congress chief in October last year, other appointments were pending.

The coordination committee, which will discuss all significant issues related to the party, includes Congress Legislature Party leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar, Congress secretary Praveen Rashtrapal, former state unit chief Mohinder Singh Kaypee besides Capt Amarinder Singh, Soni, Tewari and Ashwani Kumar. Gulchain Singh Charak, who is party incharge of Punjab, will also be its member

The manifesto committee includes Capt Amarinder Singh, Bhattal, Ashwani Kumar, Tewari, Lal Singh, Arvind Khanna and K.P. Rana.

Lal Singh, Jagjit Singh, Rana Kanwar Pal Singh, Kewal Singh Dhillon, Ashwani Sekhari, Sukhjinder Singh Sarkaria and Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi have been appointed vice presidents.

While 33 have been included in the state executive committee, 17 party leaders have been made permanent invitees to the committee.
