Zakat Foundation candidates clear Civil Services 2010

New Delhi: Among the 31 Muslim candidates who have been declared successful in the Civil Services Exam 2010, four were those who were supported and sponsored by Zakat Foundation of India. Zakat Foundation every year selects some Muslim IAS aspirants from across the country through written and oral test and offers them financial support for coaching and boarding in New Delhi.

“Alhamdulillah, all the four ZFI Fellows (Civil Services candidates selected and sponsored by Zakat Foundation of India) who had qualified in the UPSC Mains Examination, 2010 and had appeared for UPSC Civil Services Interview in March-April 2011 have finally been selected,” said Dr Syed Zafar Mahmood, president, ZFI, in a statement yesterday.

The successful ZFI fellows are:

Amin Khan Sheikh (Gujarat)
Syed Abid Rasheed Shah (Kashmir)
Mohd Ali Shibab (Kerala)
Zafar Ajmal Kidwai (Uttar Pradesh)

The 2009 Civil Services topper Shah Faisal, a Kashmiri youth, was also supported by ZFI.

“If we have greater resources, we can sponsor larger number of candidates,” Dr Mahmood said and informed that the next round of selection of ZFI Fellows is due on 30-31 May 2011.
