Agartala : Though the Communists were routed in the April-May West Bengal assembly polls, the Left movement has remained unbeaten in its stronghold, a leader said here Monday.
“A Left Front government was voted out in West Bengal, but the Left movement has remained dominant in its bastion,” All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) general secretary Debabrata Biswas told a gathering here.
“The Left parties are rigorously analytical about their rout in the electoral battle while the people of Bengal are strongly uniting themselves against the violence, misrule and anti-people activities of the Trinamool Congress-led government.”
The AIFB has been mobilising public opinion across the country in support of their three-point demands that include declaration of Jan 23 — the birth day of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose — as ‘Desh Prem Diwas’ (Patriot’s day), acceptance of Mukherjee Commission report on the disappearance of Subhas Chandra Bose and correction of Netaji related facets published earlier.
“Nowadays, when the spirit of patriotism seems lacking among our Indians owing to the distress arising primarily out of the poor economic situation of the countryman, it is essential to give a call to the people on the historic birthday of Netaji to revive such a spirit once again,” the Left leader said.
He said the AIFB would organise ‘jail bharo’ agitation across the country Nov 18 and arrange a sit-in demonstration in front of the parliament Nov 25.
