AMU VC appears before CBI to clear his position

Aligarh: Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis appeared before CBI in New Delhi on 20th Oct. to clarify his position over the allegations of financial irregularities. CBI is probing the case at the instance of Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The VC refuted the charges and explained his actions taken within the rules and practices prevalent in the University.

“The interaction (between VC and CBI) was useful as it provided an opportunity to draw attention to the legitimate provisions, conventions, traditions and the legal framework under which the action and decisions were taken with regard to some of the contentious issues relating to the payment of TA and DA, HTA, Income Tax of Prof. Azis totaling a sum of Rs. 1.8 Lakh,” said Dr Rahat Abrar, Public Relations Officer, AMU.

On the issue of alleged financial irregularities, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis emphasized the point that the University managed its funds perfectly within the standard financial management practices in vogue as per government rules. He also clarified that the University has received no major audit paras during the last three years in its audit reports and the charges of financial irregularities are baseless, Dr Abrar added.

According to hi, the VC told the CBI that the University has given its replies to the audit paras raised in the special audit report conducted in 2010 and is ready to comply with any directives issued in this regard by C & A.G.
