“Amida G. Momin from Meghalaya, who was swept away by Trishuli river, is dead. We have informed her parents. Three students who are seriously injured are in hospital,” college’s vice principal V. Iyappan told IANS.

He said arrangements were being made to bring back the bodies and the students.

On Saturday, Florence Angel died after she hit a rock when the hanging bridge she and some of her college mates were standing on collapsed.

The nine injured students were identified as B. Ramesh, Sindhu Jha, Balaji, Christopeher, Sigdi, Jack, U. Sylvie and Priya — all from Tamil Nadu — and Kelvin Strength Syangba from Meghalaya.

A group of 42 post graduate students and two faculty members left for Nepal Oct 12 on an educational tour. They were set to return Wednesday.

The students were going to Pokhara in a bus. On seeing the hanging bridge, the bus was stopped and some students walked on it. Some remained behind, only to see the bridge breaking and people falling down below.

Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa expressed her grief over the accident.

This is the second major accident in which people from Tamil Nadu had gone to Nepal on tour and lost their lives.

Last month, eight people from Tiruchirapalli, around 320 km from here, lost their lives in a plane crash in Nepal.
