Kolkata: The West Bengal zone of Students Islamic Organisation of India on Tuesday took out a street demonstration and rally to support Irom Sharmila who is Hunger Protest for over last 10 years demanding withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
“Irom Sharmila’s Hunger protest has become world’s longest hunger protest. She has become a symbol of peace but government has not initiated any positive step to save the life of this brave woman. Her voice for justice is valid as such types of laws are dangerous for democracy,” said Farid Mondal, Secretary, Public Relations, SIO West Bengal.
