“Justice (retd) Syed Bashir-ud-Din demitted office on Oct 24, 2011 after completion of his term. All the work at the commission including allotment of cases and routine administration has come to a standstill as the state government is yet to nominate his successor,” sources at the SHRC told IANS.

The term is three years and sources said the government would have known about it and should have appointed a person for the crucial post.
