Ranchi : Railway services were affected Sunday in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur region as the protestes blocked the tracks to demand the resumption of night trains that were stopped following last year’s Gyaneshwari Express accident.
The railway have been restricting the movement of trains after the Gyaneshwari Express sabotage in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district May 2010. The accident had claimed 148 lives.
Trains were obstructed at Tatanagar, Kharsawan and other railway stations, in the 12-hour economic blockade called by the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P), a railway official of Chkradharpur railway division told IANS.
Carrying banners, JVM-P workers, including women, sat on railway tracks.
More than 100 JVM-P workers were arrested.
