Shimla : Himachal Pradesh’s higher reaches Wednesday got a fresh spell of snow, plummeting temperatures by several notches.
“The high hills in Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu and Chamba districts have been experiencing light to moderate snowfall since Tuesday,” said one weather department official.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state where mercury plummeted to 2.2 degrees Celsius. The town recorded five cm of snowfall.
Shimla, cloudy throughout the day, recorded a minimum temperature of 8.3 degrees Celsius.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw a low of 2.9 degrees Celsius, while it was six degrees Celsius in Manali and 13.1 degrees Celsius in Dharamsala.
Saloni in Chamba district received the highest rainfall of 63 mm.
Reports said many areas in upper Shimla were severely affected by hails, affecting the apple crop.
The weather office here has forecast more snow in high hills and hailstorm in other areas till Thursday.
