Ri Yong-ho, chief of the KPA General Staff, said the founding of the army by commander Kim Il-sung 80 years ago ushered in a new history of building the revolutionary armed forces.

He said Kim Jong-il strengthened the army and made North Korea a world-level military power.

He said Kim Jong-un, KPA supreme commander and first chairman of the National Defense Commission, was “a brilliant commander of Songun (military-first)”. He would strengthen the might of the KPA and lead the North Korean revolution to a “new victory”.

Ri warned South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, saying that anyone who provokes or hurts North Korea’s dignity would be defeated.
