Hearing a petition filed by activist Praveen Wategaonkar, a division bench of Justices S. A. Bobade and Mridula Bhatkar asked the CBI to file its reply by Aug 29.

Wategaonkar’s petition sought details of the role of the two former chief ministers in the scam.

It said that the agency had had earlier recorded the statements of Shinde and Deshmukh, but the charge sheet filed by CBI on July 4 against 13 accused, including former chief minister Ashok Chavan, does not mention names of these two ministers.

The bench will also hear the applications whether CBI has jurisdiction to probe the scam on Aug 29.
