New Delhi : Farmers will get a better price for their produce after the government hiked the minimum support price (MSP) for pulses like arhar (tur) and moong for 2012-13 season, official sources said Friday.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs Friday fixed the MSP for arhar (tur) at Rs.3,850 per quintal and of moong at Rs.4,400 per quintal, an increase of Rs.650 and Rs.900 per quintal respectively.

The sowing of pulses in the ongoing summer season has been hit due to deficient monsoon and the move to hike the MSP for two pulses would provide an incentive to the farmers, officials said.
