In another development based on the newspaper reports about the riotous activities in Lucknow on 17 August 2012, social activist of National RTI Forum Dr Nutan Thakur wrote a letter to Principal Secretary (Home), Uttar Pradesh to look specifically into three important issues. The first news is about the policemen having stopped the rioters near Capital Cinema but removing the barricades and allowing them to go ahead when a senior police officer got a call from someone, which resulted in huge amount of arson and loot. The second is about the huge delay in getting the FIR of the Media persons registered where while the complainant gave a petition against two specific names but the police registered an FIR against unknown persons. The third news is about the way the SSP remained inactive all through the event and also disappeared from the place of incidence.

Nutan also requested that these three issues shall also be enquired by the Lucknow Commissioner who is conducting an enquiry in this matter and those found guilty shall be duly punished.
