Chennai student arrested in Goa for possessing drugs

Panaji: An engineering student from Chennai, who also worked as a DJ (disc jockey), was arrested in Goa for possession of a narcotics cocktail, police said Thursday.

R. Mohan Sundaram was arrested near Ozrant beach in north Goa, around 20 km from here. He had arrived on a scooter to sell the stash of drugs.

“The initial interrogation of the accused has revealed that he hails from a well to-do-family. He is student of second year at the Audio and Sound Engineering Institute, Chennai, and is a part-time professional DJ,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Nilu Rautdessai told reporters here.

Sundaram over the years had done several music gigs in some of the top clubs and discos in Goa, said Rautdessai.

He has been arrested with 451 LSD dots weighing 5.9 grams, 14.1 grams of Ketamine and 3.3 grams of charas, among others.

“The approximate value of the seized drugs is more than Rs.8 lakh in the international market,” Rautdessai added.
