New Delhi: There are a total of 2,684 Muslim employees working for Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) according to Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
According to a 2010 estimate LIC employs more than 116 thousand all over India which makes Muslims 2.3% of the employees. About half of the Muslim employees comes in Class III category.
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and General Insurance Public Sector Companies have informed that the total number of Muslim employees in each category in LIC and Public Sector General Insurance Companies is as follows:
