Moscow: A Russian passenger plane overshot the runaway at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport, killing four people on board, the emergency situations ministry said Saturday.
The Red Wings airline flight, with eight crew members on board, had flown from the Czech Republic, Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying.
It slid off the runway while making a hard landing around 4.30 p.m. before catching fire and breaking into three parts, the ministry said.
Those killed include the captain, the co-pilot, the flight engineer and a stewardess.
Four other crew members were injured.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has instructed the government to offer all necessary resources to help the injured people.
