Murshidabad (West Bengal) : Nine Bangladeshi children, inmates of a juvenile home in Behrampore in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, Saturday fled from the detention centre in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
“Yes, nine children have escaped from Anand Ashram, a juvenile home in Behrampore. Reportedly, they are from Bangladesh. We have started a probe into the matter and are looking for the escapees,” Murshidabad Superintendent of Police Humayun Kabir said.
The Behrampore police station confirmed the children were from Bangladesh.
“All the children who have escaped are from Bangladesh. They broke open the locks of the door around three in the morning and fled. We are looking for them,” assistant sub-inspector Pradipta Basu said.
He, however, refused to give out any more information.
The district administration has sought a detailed report from the home authorities.
