New Delhi: In a major setback to the Indian Mujahideen bust up by the Delhi Police Special Cell, the National Investigative Agency (NIA), which is currently probing the Delhi High Court blast, has categorically denied the possibility of 7 alleged Indian Mujahideen men, being responsible for the blast.
These alleged IM men, all of them from Darbhanga (Madhubani region in Bihar) were arrested by the Special Cell Delhi Police between November and December last year.
The NIA ruled out their involvement in the September 7, 2011 after interrogating them for two days. Importantly the development is being seen as the first major set back to the special Cell’s theory of Madhubani being the new ‘terror nursery.’
Those who were arrested by the Special Cell included Mohammed Qateel Siddiqui, Mohammad Adil, Abdur Rehman, Mohammed Irshad, Gayur Ahmed Jamali and Farukh alias Nawab Alam from Madhubani.
According to reports the NIA questioned the alleged IM suspects, showing them the available evidences in the Delhi HC blasts and found that none of them were responsible for the blast.
Relatives of the alleged IM men as well as Muslim leaders, who have consistently claimed that the recent series of arrests from Madhubani, was wrong and illegal, have welcomed the NIA’s disclosure, arguing that it will boost up their case if and when they apply for their bail.
