About 600 students gathered for the annual celebration of culture and music organised by the university’s Centre for North East Studies.

Welcoming the audience, centre director Sanjoy Hazarika said it is necessary to acquaint people about the region’s rich culture.

He said the event will go a long way in strengthening the bond between the people of the region and the rest of the country.

The event, organised at the Safdar Hasmi Ampitheatre, was held for the second consecutive year. The theme was “Music from the borders”.

The programme started with rock music performed by a Delhi-based group. Bihu and Manipuri folk dances and a cultural show from Sikkim were also presented. Musical groups from the northeast Nagaland Singing Ambassadors and Rewben & Saka Mashangva also regaled the audience.
