“The training programmes in tax laws and regulations will be offered at 30 NIIT centres in 21 cities across the country from February first week to corporates and aspiring professionals looking for a bright career in finance, accounting and taxation,” KPMG Tax Head Uday Ved said in a statement here Thursday.

At the end of the four-to-eight-week programmes, the professionals will be awarded certificate or diploma in tax regulations.

Senior partners from the audit firm will use NIIT’s synchronous learning technology to train and bridge the gap between theory and practice, especially with respect to the proposed direct tax code (DTC) and the goods and services tax (GST) laws.

The programmes will cover direct tax, indirect tax and regulatory aspects, including DTC and GST legislations.

“With India standing on the threshold of major tax reforms, there is an increased demand for tax experts. The programmes are aimed at catering to this demand by creating a pool of professionals equipped to deal with legislative and practical aspects of taxation and prepare them for the new tax regimes,” Ved pointed out.

According to NIIT’s career building solutions’ chief executive G. Raghavan, the programmes are focused on technical competence and practical applications of the current tax and regulatory framework, including research and planning.

“Participants will be exposed to all areas of taxation, including transfer pricing, domestic and international tax and various indirect taxes such as service tax, VAT (valued added tax) and customs,” Raghavan noted.
