In his address to the Delhi Legislative Assembly on the opening day of the winter session, Khanna said: “With three new smaller municipal bodies, the day-to-day problems of the citizens of Delhi will be addressed more expeditiously and effectively.”

“A widely shared desire will be realised shortly with trifurcation of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi,” Khanna said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs kept shouting anti-government slogans sporadically during Khanna’s speech whenever he highlighted achievements of the Congress-led government.

However, an unfazed Khanna continued reading his speech.

The coming days of the winter session are likely to be stormy as BJP is up in arms against the government ahead of the crucial MCD elections in April.

Khanna said the progress during the last one year in administrative reforms and social welfare sectors was a standing testimony for the government.
