New Delhi: The week started off on a pleasant note in the capital Monday with the overcast skies holding out the promise of rain and the minimum temperature settling at 28 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season.
“The skies would be cloudy. There is possibility of rain in some areas. The maximum temperature should be around 34 degrees Celsius,” an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.
Humidity recorded at 8.30 a.m. was 77 percent.
Sunday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 33.9 degrees Celsius, three notches below the average for the season, while the minimum temperature was a notch below average at 26.4 degrees Celsius.
Many schools reopened Monday after the summer vacations was extended by a week, as the capital was reeling under intense heat. With the maximum temperature hovering around 40 degrees Celsius, the longed for monsoon showers reached here Friday evening.
