New Delhi : A ministerial panel headed by Home Minister P. Chidambaram Wednesday approved the compensation demand made by Air India from US planemaker Boeing for delay in delivery of 787 Dreamliner aircrafts.
“The group of ministers (GoM) considered it and now we will send it to the CCEA (cabinet committee on economic affairs),” Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh told reporters after the group of ministers meeting here.
Singh said the issue will be taken up whenever the next cabinet committee on economic affairs meeting would be held.
A meeting of the cabinet committee on economic affairs headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to take place Thursday.
However, the minister refused to divulge the amount of compensation that the state-run Air India would seek from Boeing.
Air India has been demanding heavy compensation from Boeing for delay in the 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which was scheduled for delivery in 2008. The delivery is delayed by almost four years.
