Hyderabad: Muslim students have exceled in the post-graduation common entrance test (PGCET) conducted by Osmania University for admission to select professional PG courses. In the results declared on Friday, many top ranks in this state wide entrance test have been bagged by Muslim students. This entrance exam was conducted for the entrance into PG colleges of 16 different streams.
Syeda Hajra Anjum got state 1st rank in Agriculture and Planning. In Aerospace engineering M.A. Raheem got state 3rd rank. In chemical engineering Zakir Hussain scored state 1st rank. In geo engineering Bi Bi khatijatul Kubra got state 2nd rank and in mechanical engineering Mohd Ghouse bagged state 1st rank.
These results were announced yesterday evening by O.U vice chancellor prof. Satyanarayana. He said Osmania University has created a record by declaring entrance exam results within a span of 11 days.
According to VC, 71,098 students registered their name for the P.G entrance exam, out of these 63,312 turned up to the exam centers, in which 41,276 were men, and 23,036 were women. Total 57,366 students qualified PGCET that makes the percentage to 89.19%.
Osmania University has been conducting this entrance exam PGCET for the past six years; it is the only entrance test which a professional graduate had to qualify for further higher studies and to get admissions in limited PG colleges in the state.
It is the first time Muslim students have performed extremely well and bagged top ranks, this also reflect that many Muslim students are now opting for higher studies even in professional courses.
