Inaugural session started at 11:30 p.m. with the recitation of Holy Quran. Maulana Mujibullah Saheb’s elder son Dr. Abdullah Ammar in his welcome address explained his decision of holding the seminar after futile waiting for more than five years for an initiative from Jamiatur Rashad; an institution established by Maulana Mujibullah Nadvi, or others who might have come forward for this pressing need to remember a personality dedicated to the cause of Muslim community, in particular, and less privileged section of society in general. He mentioned the establishment of two very important institutions in Azamgarh: Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy and Shibli National College by Allama Shibli Nomani (RA) and emphasized the complementary work of Maulana Mujibullah Nadvi in establishing Jamiatur Rashad: an institution catering to the religious needs of the community.

Dr. Ammar gave a brief introduction of the history of Azamgarh and its importance as a literary hub mentioning great luminaries who made Azamgarh famous in the world. He also shared his vision of carrying forward the mission of Maulana Mujibullah Nadvi(RA) and mentioned the establishment of ‘Maulana Mujibullah Nadvi Research Institute’, Rashad Nagar, Azamgarh, for the purpose.

Dr. Ilyas Azmi, student and close associate of Maulana Mujibullah Saheb, was to deliver the inaugural address but overwhelmed by emotion he could say only a few sentences about his relation with Maulana and congratulated his son Dr. Abdullah Ammar for this due initiative.

In his keynote address Maulana Azizul Hasan Siddiqui, Ghazipur, elaborated on the dangerous initiative taken by government through implementation of RTE(Right to Education) act. He wondered as to how government institutions, which are in a pitiable condition, will cater to the need of all and sundry. He associated this, seemingly benign gesture of the government, to an assault on the character of ‘Dini Madaris’ and emphasized upon the guarantee provided for the establishment of minority educational institutions of our choice through article 30 and 31 in our constitution.

Maulana Jamil Ahmad Siddiqui, Maulana Atiq Ahmad Bastawi, Mr. Wakil Ahmad Ansari (close confidant of Late Maulana Mujibullah), and Professor Mohsin Usmani also commented on the need of holding this Seminar.

Maulana Taqiuddin Nadwi, Patron Jamia Islamia Muzaffarpur, Azamgarh, as Chief guest elaborated on the need of remembering a great personality like Maulana Mujibullah and congratulated Dr. Abdullah Ammar for taking the initiative.

Professor Ishtiaq Ahmad Zilli, Director Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy, in his presidential remarks compared the zeal and restlessness of Maulana Mujibullah Nadvi over problems faced by Muslim community with the spirit of Allama Shibli Nomani(RA) on these issues. He mentioned about his association with Maulana Mujibullah Nadvi as a teacher in the newly established Madarsa: Jamiatur Rashad.

The inaugural session was conducted by Maulana Umair-us-Siddique Nadvi who elaborated upon the multi faceted personality of Maulana Mujibullah Nadvi, his association with Shibli Academy as ‘Rafiq’ and the great rapport he had with his illustrious teacher, Saiyed Sulaiman Nadvi. In the last Maulana Taqiuddin led the congregation for ‘Dua’.
