Acharya gave himself up before the CBI court at Nampally Criminal Court complex.

The high court had Tuesday cancelled Acharya’s bail and had directed him to surrender before the CBI court.

The high court struck down the CBI court’s March 16 order granting bail to the top bureaucrat.

Acharya, number one accused in the case, was arrested by the CBI on Jan 30. He was then principal secretary, home. The state government subsequently suspended him.

The 1983 batch IAS officer, however, was not named in the charge sheet filed by the CBI on Feb 1 as the central government has not given permission for his prosecution.

As then vice chairman and managing director of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), Acharya had allegedly diluted its stake in a joint venture with Dubai-based real estate major Emaar Properties.

The IAS officer, however, has denied the allegations. He told reporters Wednesday that he was being made a scapegoat.
