New Delhi: Khudai Khidmatgar in collaboration with various civil groups are going to hold their 3rd Save Girl Child summit. The program will be held on 29-30th May 2012 at Gandhi Sangrahalaya near Rajghat in New Delhi. The first summit was held in Ambala in 2010 and the second at Panipat in 2011. Haryana and Punjab are among the top states in female foeticide.
“It is a matter of shame that still so many daughters in India are being killed even before they step into the world .The ample amount of talks that are done in favour of nonviolence and religion in our country , but in spite of that this inhuman act goes on which is a matter of great concern and shame to us,” said organizers in a statement.
With an aim to create awareness among people regarding the value of girl child, the civil groups organized fist meet on 24-25th March 2010 in Ambala district of Haryana. Around 70 members from 10 states held the two- day national meet to discuss with serious concern the issue of female foeticide. At the meet they decided to hold such kind of national meet once a year. The second summit was held at Panipat of Haryana on 25-26th April 2011 which was attended by more than 15 state representatives.
The 3rd summit is being organized with support of GSDS in New Delhi on 29-30th May 2012.
