Kolkata: Vice Chancellor of Darul Uloom Deoband, Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani has criticized Dr Zakir Nayak for issuing a fatwa in favor of neck-tie. He described neck-tie as un-Islamic. Noted Islamic scholar and televangelist Dr. Nayak is often seen wearing neck-tie at public programs.
“Some people are playing with Shariat. Those who are not Mufti or Islamic scholar of theological studies have no right to issue fatwa. A man who is doctor by profession, Dr. Zakir Nayak, has delivered fatwa for neck-tie, which is un-Islamic. A doctor cannot issue a fatwa. Muslims should be aware of it and should avoid it,” said Mufti Nomani while addressing Tahaffuz E Shariat Conference held here on 13th May 2012 at Park Circus Maidan, Kolkata.
Shaikhul Hadith at Darul Uloom Deoband, Maulana Arshad Madani said, in the light of Shariat Muslims can keep themselves real followers of Islam. No can stop Shariat activities among the Muslim society.
Imam of Namaz E Eidayen of Kolkata QariFazlurRahman said, being a Muslim everyone needs to follow the Shariat rule, otherwise he cannot become a true Muslim.
Organizers of the conference had announced that Qari Md Usman of Darul Uloom Deoband and Member of Parliament Maulana Badruddin Ajmal will also address the gathering. But the two could not make it to the program, maybe because they are in the Mahmood Madani faction of Jamiat Ulama while Maulana Arshad Madani is heading another faction.
