Mercury soars in Odisha, Titilagarh records 44.5 C

Bhubaneswar : A heat wave sweeping across Odisha intensified Tuesday with maximum temperature rising to over 44 degrees Celsius at some places, Meteorological Department officials said.

Titilagarh town in Balangir district, about 400 km from here, recorded the temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius Tuesday, the day’s highest of the state, a senior official of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, told IANS.

The district headquarters town of Subarnapur also recorded a high of 44 degrees Celsius, he said. Both the places are located in the western part of the state.

The places like Sambalpur, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Angul recorded maximum temperatures in the range of 40 to 43 degrees Celsius, he added.

The capital city of Bhubaneswar and its adjoining Cuttack city recorded a maximum of 40.1 and 39.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
