New Delhi : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati held a luncheon meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his official residence here Sunday.
Asked by reporters if the meeting was linked to parliament’s winter session starting Nov 22, she denied it.
“Such meetings keep happening. The parliament session is about to start. The lunch should not be linked to the session,” said Mayawati, former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
“When we (BSP) had a government in UP, I kept meeting the prime minister. I was invited to lunch during that time too,” she said.
Asked if the BSP will support the Congress on foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail, she said: “We had a rally in October and whatever I had to say I said on this issue.”
The BSP continues to support the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government from outside.
