New Delhi : The Rajya Sabha was disrupted Friday over issue of reservation for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes in job promotions.
After its first adjournment, which was shortly after the house met at 11 a.m., the upper house met at 12 noon.
As soon as the proceedings began, members of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) came close to to chairman’s podium, raising slogans.
“Pass the bill for reservation in promotion first,” the BSP members shouted.
Amidst the din, a report of a select committee on the Lokpal Bill and other papers were tabled.
A constitutional amendment bill to provide reservation in promotion to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes is listed for passage in this session.
Bharatiya Janata Party members were also on their feet, demanding debate on FDI in retail.
The house was then adjourned till 2.30 p.m.
