New Delhi : The Editors Guild of India condoled the death of Inder Kumar Gujral, who was India’s prime minister for 11 months in 1997-98, saying he was a champion of press freedom and would be “remembered for his efforts to seek conflict resolution in the region”.
In a statement, the Guild said, apart from being information and broadcasting minister in his early political life, he (Gujral) served the country as an astute and successful diplomat and later a minister of external affairs.
“Gujral would be remembered for his efforts to seek conflict resolution in the region. He was champion of freedom of press and always accessible to media,” the statement added.
