Kerala: Eid nowadays is not just confined to a sumptuous meal, new costumes and visiting the relatives. The community has now made it a habit of going for tours to places in and around Kerala by around evening of the Eid day.
These tours are either family get-together or organised by youths on their own. The Qateebs during the Eid sermon has taken special care to mention that these tours organised to hilarious landscapes, soothing beaches and mind boggling gardens should be to glorify the Almighty’s creativity and be thankful to him, as he has made this earth so beautiful for us to enjoy. If it is done as such the Qateebs said, ‘Almighty would of course reward your Eid day tours, considering it another good deed on the Eid day’.
The sermons have asked the tours to focus on such miracles and glories of the almighty and not to the nudity exhibited in beaches by foreigners; the Qateebs have asked them not to end their day’s journey on beverage bottles as well because such tendencies often creates troubles to families who are on tour to the very same place. Earlier there were instances of women on tour along with their families being eve-teased by youths who were on Eid –tour as well.
The Qateebs have asked the youths to prefer tours along with their families than being with their friends because Eid is an occasion to uphold family relations as well.
Luckily this time the instances of such eve-teasing, two-wheeler accidents and deaths being drowned in water have been minimal which usually kicks up in the Eid day evening and next day morning, often by the crazy bike stunts and careless approach from the youths towards the danger posed by rivers and waterfalls in areas were they are not used to.
