New Delhi : Applications filed by businessman Abhishek Verma and his wife, arrested for their alleged role in a money laundering case, seeking their release from the case were rejected by a Delhi court Monday.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Gautam Manan rejected their applications and extended their judicial custody till Oct 1.
“I am rejecting your applications. The judicial custody is extended till Oct 1,” the judge said.
Verma and his Romanian wife Anca Maria Neacsu filed separate applications Sep 11 and requested the court to release them as the “continuity of the custody has been broken” by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) with their judicial custody not getting extended Sep 10.
Verma and his wife were arrested Aug 22 by the ED in the money laundering case.
They were not presented in court Sep 10 after the expiry of their judicial custody as their custody was given to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for 10 days in a case of violating the Official Secrets Act.
The two also face separate corruption, cheating and forgery cases.
Verma is also an accused in the 2006 naval war room case linked to leaking classified documents from the directorate of naval operations.
