New Delhi: Targeting the Saudi Arabia’s stance of declaring 10 percent reservation in jobs for the citizens of the Kingdom, national secretary of All India Ulama and Mashaikh Board (AIUMB) Syed Babar Ashraf today remarked that the Saudi Arabia is going towards economic decline as the oil wells are at the verge of extinction and the Kingdom of Saud Arabia (KSA) is trying to compensate it through the new labor policy.

“The economic insecurity is the only reason for hiking the prices of Hajj. In 2003 the cost incurred by devotees going to perform Hajj was Rs 60,000 which has been hiked to Rs 20,0000 now. This is obstructing the common Muslims to perform obligatory Hajj,” charged Ashraf.

“In the name of providing relief to the Hajj and Ziyarat pilgrims, KSA is vandalizing the Islamic holy places and trying to develop it as a tourist place. This is unacceptable in the religion as well as by the Muslims.”

Ashraf further remarked that the reservation in jobs for the Saudi citizens will impact the lives of many Indian workers. They might lose job and will be forced to leave Saudi Arabia, he feared.

Worried about the issue Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to interfere into the matter and hold talks with the Saudi authorities.

The AIUMB requested the government of India to hold high-level talks with the KSA and try to resolve the matter.
