Hyderabad: Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee on the occasion of 65th International human rights day, pay tribute to the people who sacrificed their lives for the protection of human rights of themselves as well as others all over the world. On this day, this committee expresses its solidarity with the people and their families who are tortured, kidnapped, disappeared and incarcerated for unjustified reasons. This committee also expresses its concern for the people who are political prisoners and detained behind bars for uncountable years only because of their political views and ideology.

On this occasion this committee reminds to the Secretary General of United Nations, Mr.Ban Ki Moon, that this day is celebrated in connection of UDHR. The first article of UDHR says, “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood”. The Preamble of UN says, “THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaims THIS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction”.

Moreover, we also remind the Secretary General that the completion of 20 years of the Vienna Declaration of 1993 which is being celebrated as ‘20 years of working for your rights’, has been failed because, the final document agreed to in Vienna, which was endorsed by the forty-eighth session of the General Assembly (resolution 48/121, of 1994), reaffirmed the principles that had evolved during the past 45 years and further strengthened the foundation for additional progress in the area of human rights. The recognition of interdependence between democracy, development and human rights, for example, prepared the way for future cooperation by international organizations and national agencies in the promotion of all human rights, including the right to development.

This committee directly questions to Mr. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of United Nations why the United Nations failed to implement UDHR and Vienna Declaration all over the world. Instead of protecting the suppressed or oppressed people why UN has become the tool of the super power. This committee wants to clearly say that the larger population of this world believes that the United Nations doesn’t care to protect the rights of the people and only works for the United States of America and its allies. The amount of violence and destruction that has been created by the United States of America and Israel, United Nations is not acting upon it. In all these 65 years of UDHR, the additional progress as affirmed by Vienna Declaration has gone reverse. Under the nose of UN the super powers and its allies are suppressing the people who are struggling for democracy, resisting from slavery and fighting for the protection of human rights.

This committee also reminds Mr. Ban Ki Moon that in the year 2013 itself, uncountable loss of human lives has taken place in various attacks on common people. Democratically elected governments vanished gradually. Conflicts between the countries are emerging and deepening more and more. The resolutions which are passed by the United Nations are not implemented against the oppressors, but at the same time, if the resolutions are passed by the United Nations against the oppressed countries, and if not implemented by them, then USA and its allies by giving the reference of United Nations and UDHR start military action against them. It is not known whether the United Nations is superior or the USA and its allies! But people of the world are thinking that the United Nations is working under USA.

In this year of 2013 there are more problems emerging and the most serious problems are the drone attacks carried out by the USA in different parts of the world and that too on indigenous people in the name of fighting terrorism. The drone attacks which are carried out in the provinces of Pakistan and Afghanistan is clear example of crime against humanity. But it is a matter of deep concern that United Nations is silent spectator on these grave human rights violations by the USA and its allies. Due to the double standard of United Nations the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has become a farce and Vienna Declaration a mockery.

On this occasion of 65th International Human Rights Day, we demand to the United Nations to come out of the clutches of USA and act decisively and independently. We demand the United Nations to implement the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with its true spirit. We also demand United Nations to come forward and act immediately against all the drone attacks and other kinds of attacks on indigenous people all over the world because it is crime against humanity taking place in the name of United Nations itself.

On this occasion Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee pledge to strive for the cause of humanity and continue the work of human rights and civil liberties of all the people. We will also continue our efforts to educate, advocate about civil rights and rights abuses by the law enforcement and other government and non government agencies. This committee believes and assures the people that we shall overcome one day.
