Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University has been ranked 50 among top 100 institutions of higher learning in BRICS (the group of newly developed and industrialized countries including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).
In a study made by the Times Higher Education, UK for the year 2014, ten Indian institutions of higher learning have made to the ranking of institutions of BRICS and emerging economies, out of which 6 are IITs.
Punjab University is at the top amongst Indian universities, with rank 13, while Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi holds 57th position.
