Islamabad : The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday issued guidelines for parliamentarians regarding voting in the Aug 6 presidential election.
According to the guidelines, the country’s new president will be elected via a secret ballot, as parliamentarians will have to place a cross next to the name of the candidate they are voting for, Geo News reported.
It said the parliamentarians would be provided a special pencil for the voting process and no other pencil of pen will be allowed.
Senators, the members of the upper house of bicameral Pakistan parliament, would cast their vote first followed by members of the National Assembly, the lower house, the guidelines further added.
Issuing directives to registrars of high courts that presidential nomination papers could be accepted till Wednesday noon, the ECP also said that the candidate or his representative should be present at the time of submitting the nomination papers.
