Shillong : A Bangladeshi national involved in bringing fake currency notes into India was arrested here, police said Friday.
Mohammad Bulbul Islam, 23, wanted in connection with the circulation of counterfeit currency, was arrested from a safehouse in police bazaar area, Mariahom Kharkrang, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, told IANS.
“Islam’s arrest is a prize catch for Meghalaya Police as he is wanted in connection in supplying of counterfeit notes,” he said.
The Special Cell team also recovered Bangladeshi Taka 270,000, two Bangladeshi SIM cards and four Indian SIM cards, one of which is registered in Jammu & Kashmir, and a cellphone from his possession.
