Beijing: A Chinese police officer has donated 100,000 yuan ($16,000) to the Beijing Police Foundation which he had received by a philanthropist after being injured on duty.
Wang Qihe, a policeman at the Huairou branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, donated 100,000 yuan, donated to him by philanthropist Li Chunping after he was injured in the line of duty, China Daily reported Tuesday.
Wang was injured in 2011, during a robbery homicide case at a bank in Beijing’s Shunyi district. He was shot by a suspect. Doctors has to take out almost 100 pieces of glass and 56 pieces of metal from his wound. Though he underwent four operations, his left arm is yet to normalise.
But his personal condition has failed to deter him from helping others, as for years, he has donated 10,000 yuan ($1,600) to a poor student and her family to help her and her brother complete their studies.
Wang has also donated over 30,000 yuan ($4,800) for education and disaster relief.
