Dalai Lama visits Buddhist site in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama Thursday visited the Buddhist site at Sirpur in Chhattisgarh and said “I am now carrying the memories of Lord Buddha from here”.

“Really amazing, the history of Sirpur is glorious,” the Dalai Lama said at Sirpur in Mahasamund district, about 75 km from Raipur.

The Dalai Lama visited the Laxman temple and Buddha viharas as well.

During a brief visit to the Buddhist site, which is situated on the banks of the Mahanadi river, the Dalai Lama termed Sirpur as a rare historical monument.

He was accompanied by Collector P. Sangeeta and Superintendent of Police R.S. Garg.
