Chennai : Two teachers were arrested in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai Friday for allegedly sexually harassing their students, said police.
“The teachers named S. Vijayakumar and A. Terrance were arrested and remanded to custody for their inappropriate behaviour with their girl students,” a police officer from the temple town, 450 km from here, told IANS over phone.
Though the duo has been misbehaving with the girls for quite some time, no police complaint was formally lodged by the parents, who had raised the issue in the parent-teacher association meeting at the school, but to no avail.
But on Thursday, an official of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) lodged a police complaint and upon enquiries with the students, police found merit in the case and arrested the teachers.
